Husband Fatally Shoots Wife Before Killing Himself In Affluent Suffolk Co. Neighborhood: Police

A husband and wife died in a suspected murder-suicide in an affluent Long Island neighborhood.

Officers responded to an Islip residence on Parsons Landing after someone called 911 reporting a man with a gunshot wound outside the home at around 6:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 20.

A preliminary investigation found that William Clifford, 73, fatally shot his wife, Eileen Clifford, 68, before killing himself, Suffolk County Police said. Officers found Mrs. Clifford’s body inside the home.

Nobody else was injured in the attack. Police did not speculate on a possible motive for the killing or say whether anyone else was home at the time.
